Senior Biological Permitting Specialist Position – Full-Time, Salaried Position in the North Bay Area
Sol Ecology is actively seeking a mid to senior-level Biological Permitting Specialist to join our North Bay team – consisting of Sonoma, Marin, Napa, Lake, Solano, and Mendocino Counties, California. We are looking for a candidate with experience and leadership to oversee our North Bay project portfolio. Roles and responsibilities will include independently manage, prioritize, and track multiple projects/tasks, budgets, and schedules with little supervision, train/supervise staff on regulatory permitting processes and strategies, track changing regulatory laws and statues concerning aquatic resources, provide QA/QC on work products, and collaborate with senior and junior-level staff, clients, and professionals from other disciplines to help problem-solve various permitting challenges. The successful applicant shall have a background in leading or overseeing aspects of the following services: biological assessments, aquatic resource and species permitting, and restoration or mitigation planning. Our clients include primarily local landowners, small businesses, and municipalities.
Desired qualifications:
· Minimum 5 years of professional experience
· Bachelor’s degree or higher in biology, ecology, natural resource management, or related field
· Attention to detail, strong organization skills, ability to work with a team and independently, and strong written and oral skills.
· Knowledge of locally sensitive plant and/or wildlife species and communities
· Experience preparing aquatic resource delineation reports and both federal and state permit applications.
· Experience as a project manager and mentor for junior or mid-level biologists.
· Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel.
· Able to work in a virtual office environment and navigate to remote field locations.

Starting salary range for this position is $80,000 to $110,000 commensurate with experience and location within our core area of business. Benefits include holiday pay, paid vacation, bonuses, Kaiser Gold medical coverage, and retirement (coming soon).
